Gallery Mount Prints — Modern, Durable, and Ready to Hang

Gallery Mount prints — also known in the trade as Standout Mounts — give your photographs a clean, frameless, ready-to-hang presentation that looks intentional and professional without the bulk or expense of traditional framing. At Yellow Lab Imaging, we produce Gallery Mounts by combining a professional Lustre photo print with a precision-cut Gatorfoam backing and a clean black display edge. The result is a piece that goes straight from the shipping box to the wall.

We ship nationwide across all 50 states. You do not need to be local to get professional-quality Gallery Mounts delivered to your door.

What a Gallery Mount Actually Is

The term "standout mount" is the industry name for this product. We call them Gallery Mounts because that is what they look like — finished pieces you would expect to see in a gallery, not a craft store frame.

Here is what goes into each one:

  • 3/4" Gatorfoam core: Dense, lightweight foam board that is rigid enough to hang flat without warping over time. A moisture barrier on the back prevents future warping — a detail that matters for long-term display in rooms with variable humidity.
  • Ultra-smooth CM1 adhesive pre-coat: The mounting surface is factory pre-coated with a high-quality adhesive for a smooth, bubble-free bond between print and backing — no air pockets, no texture irregularities.
  • Black display banding on all four edges: A clean, finished black edge wraps the entire perimeter. The effect is a floating, shadow-box-like appearance from any viewing angle.
  • Pre-drilled hanging holes: Every Gallery Mount comes with pre-drilled holes so it can be mounted flush to the wall using push pins or Velcro strips. No visible hardware, no picture-hanging nail required.

Ready to Hang — No Additional Hardware Needed

Every Gallery Mount ships ready to hang straight from the box. Pre-drilled holes on the back of every mount — regardless of size — allow you to hang it flush against the wall using push pins or Velcro strips. No picture hooks, no nails, no visible hardware. The mount sits flat against the wall with a clean, finished look from every angle.

The Print — Lustre Standard, Pearl by Special Order

All standard Gallery Mounts are produced on our professional Lustre photographic paper — the same archival material we use for our standard photo prints, with the same 100+ year longevity rating under proper display conditions. Lustre's subtle texture and reduced glare make it the ideal surface for a mounted display print. It reads as a finished piece, not a consumer print stuck to a board.

If you would like a Gallery Mount produced on Metallic Pearl paper rather than Lustre, that is available as a special order. Pearl's high-gloss finish and metallic flake give mounted prints a more vivid, luminous quality — particularly striking for portraits, landscapes, and images with strong color. Because Pearl paper carries a higher material cost than Lustre, the price of a Pearl Gallery Mount will be higher than our standard pricing. Contact us before ordering to discuss your image and get an accurate quote for a Pearl Gallery Mount.

Every file — Lustre or Pearl — is reviewed by a real person before printing. If we notice a resolution issue, a crop concern, or an exposure problem that will be more visible in a mounted display context, we contact you before we commit the image to print.

Gallery Mounts vs. Other Display Options

If you are deciding between Gallery Mounts and other frameless display options, here is how they compare:

  • Gallery Mounts vs. Canvas Gallery Wraps: Canvas wraps have a textured surface and wrap around the edges of a wooden frame. Gallery Mounts have a smooth photographic surface and a flat face with a clean black edge. Canvas has a more traditional, fine art feel. Gallery Mounts have a more contemporary, graphic look.
  • Gallery Mounts vs. Metal Prints: Metal prints are produced by infusing dyes into aluminum — they are extremely durable, have a distinctive luminous quality, and have no paper component at all. Gallery Mounts are lighter, less expensive, and more appropriate when you want a photographic look rather than the specific visual character of metal.
  • Gallery Mounts vs. traditional framing: A framed print has glass, a mat, and a frame profile — all of which add cost, weight, and visual complexity. A Gallery Mount is lighter, less expensive, and has a cleaner, more modern look. For many subjects and spaces, the frameless approach is the stronger design choice.

Who Orders Gallery Mounts

  • Homeowners creating a gallery wall with multiple pieces at a consistent depth and edge finish
  • Businesses displaying brand photography, team photos, or commissioned work in office or retail environments
  • Gift givers who want something more substantial and display-ready than a standard print
